This is the look I was given when I innocently asked if she did ‘requests’, how was I to know that she only knew ‘Metallica’ songs with a bottletop backbeat……?
Bong Su is the current heavy weight male Asian elephant at the zoo, and with the help of the ‘wireworm plugin’ I managed to remove a few pesky wires that were in the way. (now if I could only figure out how to move these pics around the page…)
This endearing little baby was just chewing on this stalk while contemplating his next move, back to Mum or back out on the swings….
Most of the pelicans at the zoo are there because of health problems, caused mainly by fishing lines, hooks and other debris that have found their way into the waterways. It should be everyone’s obligation to remember to take your rubbish home with you to help keep the envirnoment safe.
The smells of feeding time at the seal enclosure were very attractive to these two furry friends outside on the prrrowwwllll….meow!
The Arts as practised by Asian elephants with the brush held in their trunks, where else you ask….later sold to raise funds for their conservation program.
We were lucky enough to watch the keeper offer a snack or treat to one of the giraffes at the zoo.
There seems to be a special relationship going on between this pair of eclectus parrots and the Major Mitchell cockatoo. (photographed at the walk-through aviary at the Melbourne Zoo)
This is a Dancing Brolga that I spied on a recent walk through the open plains zoo, my hope is that their numbers will increase and it will be possible to see them once more dance in the wild.
